Our team of sports physicians, bionics experts, bio-mechanics specialists, orthopedists, and textile engineers has met this challenge with success.

Nature is Our Role Model

A principle of nature inspired the basic idea behind X-Socks®. In such natural processes as metabolism and physical movement, a maximum effect is achieved with a minimum expenditure of energy. Muscles could be much more powerful than they actually are. However, they not only move the body, they support and stabilize it, as well. Bionics, the science of utilizing the results of evolution and their innovative application to technology, supplies the information we need to optimize our products. The goal the X-Socks® R&D team defined for itself was a seemingly simple one: finding a solution that helps feet maintain optimal functioning, evolved through a millennia of walking barefoot, even when wearing the shoes that are a fact of modern life. Evolution made our feet into marvelously complex machines that perform unbelievable feats. They support our entire body weight and act as nature's shock absorbers with every step we take. Depending on the amount of work they have to do, our feet can lose up to sixty grams of moisture a day in the form of perspiration. And of course, there's the additional mechanical stress exerted by shoes. In other words, our feet have a tough job to do and never get a day off.

Walking Barefoot is What Nature Intended

The point of departure for the X-Socks® R&D team was the realization that bare feet would live up to these high demands perfectly - if only we humans hadn't ventured into climate zones that make wearing shoes a necessity. The challenge was recreating the optimal conditions of walking barefoot in the closed environment of a shoe.
